For those of who have been regular visitors, there are still basically two websites here.
The text in the header of every page, 'ian stewart's webpages' or 'scs informer pages'
is a hotlink which will bring you back to the introduction page of the relevent section.
The 'Atomz Website Search' to the right of the header is a search facility for the complete site.
So please have a look around . . . if you like what you see, by all means let me know.
If you do happen to spot any errors . . . I'd be obliged if you'd also let me know as it's about the only way
these will be picked up and corrected. I hope you enjoy your visit.

After a lot of consideration, I came to the conclusion that the time was long overdue for a makeover of the site. It started off as a couple of pages just over ten years ago when I first started 'playing' with HTML and, in the words of Harriet Beecher Stowe's Topsy, 'it just growed' . . . to the point where there were 80+ pages and several hundred images !
Over the years, I had done some tidying of the pages but had always stuck with 'plain vanilla' HTML. Maintaining and updating what had become a fairly large site eventually made it a 'chore' rather than 'fun' and took most of the pleasure out of the equation.
So, I decided to 'bite the bullet' and, at the beginning of 2009, moved to using Cascading Style Sheets for this latest incarnation. Being pleased with the result, and having moved out of the shallows of web design, I decided I might as well jump into the 'deep end' and incorporated PHP within the pages. Basically to allow me to more easily update menus. The next logical step was to update from the previous 'Transitional' standard to HTML 4.01 'Strict'. Having now done so, apart from some planned minor 'presentational tweaks', I suspect that this format will remain unaltered for a while, albeit I sincerely hope that the content may well change.
