What is scs ?

It's the normal abbreviation used for soc.culture.scottish, one of over 30,000 Usenet discussion groups. This particular newsgroup is about Scots culture and the interplay which occurs in prose among the posters illustrates exactly that. It's Scottish culture playing out before your eyes in all its varied forms. Here is all of Scotland in a microcosm, the Highlands and Islands, the Lowlands, the Borders, the Northeast and the Central Belt. Here you will find the descendants of Gaels, Norsemen, Saxons, Celts and Normans. Speakers of Gaelic, Lallans, Doric, Scots, English and maybe even Norn. There are those who stayed put, those who emigrated and those who are descendents of earlier emigrants and exiles.
