UK Pre-decimal Coins

The old £sd system using Pounds, shillings and pence with 240 pennies = pound, 12 pennies = 1 shilling / 20 shillings = 1 pound, was replaced by the decimal system whereby 100 (new) pence = pound [ £1 ] on the 15th February 1971

Farthing (4 = 1d) Demonetised on the 31st December 1960	Half Penny (2 = 1d) Demonetised on the 1st August 1969


Penny (1d) Demonetised on 31st August 1971.	Three Pence (3d) Demonetised on 31st August 1971

Three Penny (3d) Replaced by the 'wooden' one in 1937	Sixpence (6d) Demonetised at the end of June 1980

Shilling (1/-) In circulation until the end of 1990	Florin (2/-) Demonetised on 1st July 1993

Half Crown (2/6) Demonetised on 1st January 1970	Crown (5/-) Not in general circulation after 1901
